Grants.gov Registration
Most federal grantors are now mandating that Grants.gov be used to formally submit grant proposal requests. If you have had experience with Grants.gov, you already know what a headache the system can be (although it is saving a lot of trees, which is a good thing!). If you haven't had experience with the system, here is a list of the time consuming steps that the registration process takes, which makes using the Grant Experts' Grants.gov registration service well worth the money!
The steps you must take to register for Grants.gov | Time to complete each step | |
---|---|---|
Step 1 | You must get a DUNS number from Duns and Bradstreet | 24 to 48 hours |
Step 2 | Complete the CCR registration and paperwork | 48 to 72 hours |
Step 3 | Enter the CCR information into the CCR system | 1 to 2 hours |
Step 4 | Wait for your IRS validation | If it is accepted, this takes 24-48 hours. If it is denied, this can take up to 48 hours of phone calls and emails to make corrections. |
Step 5 | Wait for CCR information to be accepted by Grants.gov | If it is accepted, this takes 24 hours to more than 5 working days. If it is denied, this can take up to 48 hours of phone calls and emails to make corrections. |
Step 6 | Register yourself as a "authorized organizational representative" | 1 to 2 hours |
Step 7 | E-Biz contact must allow the AOR to be the authorized contact and submitter on behalf of your organization | 24 hours |
This is a tremendous amount of time that most educators just simply don't have to complete this tedious registration process.
